Dr. William J. Keller – Medical Advisory Board Member

Dr. William J. Keller is vice president of Health Sciences and Educational Services at Nature’s Sunshine Products. He received a B.S. (Pharmacy) degree in 1966 and an M.S. (Pharmacognosy) degree in 1969 from Idaho State University. The University of Washington awarded him the Ph.D. (Pharmacognosy) degree in 1972. From that time until 2001, Dr. Keller was active in research, teaching, and service at both Northeast Louisiana University (NLU) and Samford University (SU) and their respective schools of pharmacy.

Dr. Keller presently serves on several advisory boards, the most notable of which are the American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) Board of Trustees, and the Dean’s Advisory Council at both Idaho State University and Texas A&M University – Kingsville

Dr. Keller has delivered over 200 scientific addresses and has published over 100 research papers in refereed scientific journals. He has been awarded 22 research grants from federal, state and private funding agencies. From 1972 to 1995, Dr. Keller ascended the professorial ranks at NLU and was appointed Head of the Division of Pharmaceutics and Medicinal Chemistry in 1978. In 1989, Dr. Keller was named the Clarke Williams Distinguished Professor at NLU. He was appointed Professor and Chair of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the SU School of Pharmacy in 1995. Dr. Keller assumed his current position at Nature’s Sunshine in April of 2001.

With the growing popularity of herbal medicine and related therapies in the early 1990s, Dr. Keller became quite active in alternative medicine. He has maintained this activity over the years and regularly presents seminars and workshops at meetings around the world each year. Dr. Keller was appointed to the position of associate editor of the scientific journal Pharmaceutical Biology for a two year term, 1997-1999. Dr. Keller also serves as a manuscript referee for 10 scientific journals. Dr. Keller presently serves on several advisory boards, the most notable of which are the American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) Board of Trustees, and the Dean’s Advisory Council at both Idaho State University and Texas A&M University – Kingsville.
